Looking to get out of the city and enjoy the slower pace of country living with all the comforts of home? The village of Drayton might be the place for you! It’s the best of both worlds when you can enjoy the quiet countryside while still having access to great entertainment, restaurants, town fairs and a variety of locally run activities and sports.

The largest and central community in Mapleton Township is the village of Drayton, which contains the township offices and has the largest retail presence. European settlers came to the area in the mid 1800’s, settling the area and clearing the forest to make way for productive farms. In the early 1900’s Old Order Mennonites from Pennsylvania began arriving in search of farmland where their families could grow and prosper. Today several Mennonite furniture and woodworking shops exist that draw customers from all over Ontario.

Drayton is also home to the Drayton Festival Theatre, which is a renovated 1902 Opera House that seats 375 people, and has a rich history of entertaining audiences with the finest talent in professional theatre.
